About Leptos/Overview

Leptos is developing a proprietary neuromodulation therapy for chronic obesity. The treatment, delivered via a pacemaker-type device, involves electrical activation of a specific nerve in the autonomic nervous system.

We believe that this therapy may offer an effective minimally invasive, reversible surgical option for people suffering from chronic obesity. As yet, the Leptos therapy is not approved for sale in the United States and is limited to investigational use.

Caution: Investigational device. Limited by US law to investigational use.

  About Leptos/Status

Leptos was founded in 2002 by John Dobak, M.D. Since then we have been researching the application of our therapy. The pre-clinical phase of our investigations has been completed and we have received IDE approval from the Food and Drug Administration to conduct clinical feasibility trials. We have been funded by two rounds of investment from leading venture capital firms (see Investors.) Leptos has offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the San Francisco Bay Area in California. As additional information becomes available we will update this section of the website; please also check the NEWS section for any current updates.
